Fuel Reserves Sufficient for Country’s Needs: Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says there are adequate fuel reserves to meet the country’s needs and the government is taking public relief measures.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister to review the progress on the implementation of subsidies on petroleum products, in which federal ministers and relevant officials participated. The Intelligence Bureau presented a report on the implementation of government austerity and austerity measures. The meeting was also briefed on the progress on the provision of subsidies, as well as on fuel reserves and consumption in the country.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a monthly subsidy of Rs 100,000 is being provided to passenger buses, while a monthly subsidy of Rs 40,000 is being provided to minibuses and wagons, Rs 80,000 to freight vehicles, and Rs 35,000 to delivery vans.

He said that to prevent the increase in food prices, a monthly subsidy of Rs. 70,000 is being given to trucks. This money is being provided through digital wallets to ensure transparency in the system.

He said that the Balochistan government has deposited the agreed amount for the national package, which is commendable. It is hoped that the other provinces will also deposit the agreed amount for this package as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a public relief package of Rs 129 billion was given in the last three weeks. In this hour of difficulty, the public cannot be left alone under any circumstances. The public was given relief by immediately reducing the petrol levy by Rs 80 per liter, while Pakistan Railways is providing a subsidy of Rs 6 billion. There is no increase in the fares of passenger trains and freight trains. The quarterly 25 percent increase in toll tax has also been withdrawn.

Shahbaz Sharif said that in these difficult times, measures are being taken to provide public relief as much as possible, and that the country has adequate fuel reserves to meet the country’s needs.
