Pakistan Rejects Speculation Over UAE Deposit Return, Calls Ties Strong and Stable
The Government of Pakistan has dismissed widespread speculation about the return of financial deposits to the United Arab Emirates, saying such claims misrepresent the strong and long-standing relationship between the two countries.
Officials clarified that the return of matured deposits is a routine financial process under existing agreements and does not indicate any weakening of ties.
Routine Financial Matter, Not a Political Signal
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the repayment of deposits is part of normal bilateral financial arrangements. Authorities stressed that such transactions are standard and should not be linked to political or diplomatic relations.
Deep Strategic and Historical Relations
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates share decades-long strong ties based on cooperation in multiple areas:
- Pakistan has played a key role in supporting the development of UAE armed forces, including training and defense cooperation.
- Around 1.6 million Pakistanis live in the UAE, making it one of the largest expatriate communities.
- Pakistani workers and professionals have contributed significantly to infrastructure, construction, and services in the UAE.
Economic and Cultural Bonds
The relationship between Pakistan and the UAE is not limited to economics. It is also built on:
- Cultural and religious connections, with shared Islamic values.
- Strong people-to-people links, with frequent travel for business, tourism, and family visits.
- Exchange of skilled professionals, which has strengthened development in both countries.
Recent Agreements and Ongoing Cooperation
In 2024, both countries signed major agreements worth over $3 billion, covering infrastructure, logistics, and trade.
High-level meetings in 2025–2026 have further strengthened cooperation in areas such as energy, investment, and regional stability.
Strong Partnership Remains Intact
Officials emphasized that routine financial matters like deposit repayments do not affect the strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.
They described the relationship as resilient, stable, and based on mutual trust, adding that no speculation can undermine decades of cooperation.
