Digital Fuel Management System Coming to Petrol Pumps

06 April, 2026 17:27

The federal government has decided to implement a digital fuel management system at petrol pumps. Preparations for providing mobile phones at pumps for the implementation of the petrol quota system have been completed. A specific monthly petrol quota will be set for citizens’ personal vehicles. The National IT Board (NITB) and the IT Ministry have completed testing of mobile phones and applications.

The federal government stated that no citizen will be allowed to consume more petrol than the prescribed quota. Digital monitoring will be carried out through an app developed by the Pakistan Digital Authority. Petrol pumps will be provided with modern mobile handsets worth Rs 36,000, with oil marketing companies funding the purchase of these phones.

The NITB will purchase the mobile phones and distribute them to the relevant companies and fuel stations through OGRA. OGRA has been instructed to issue directives to oil companies for the purchase of mobile phones. Details have been sent to the Cabinet Division for final approval by the IT Ministry. The NITB has verified the quality and operational performance of the mobile devices.

The federal government will soon announce the regular petrol quota for vehicles.
