Fire Breaks Out Near Orangi Town Karachi
A fire broke out earlier today in a building located near Orangi Town No. 5 in Karachi. Upon receiving the report, fire brigade teams rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.
Currently, at least one fire engine is on-site, and firefighters are actively working to extinguish the flames. There have been no immediate reports of casualties, and officials are monitoring the situation to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
Earlier this year, the legacy of the tragic Gul Plaza fire lingers in Karachi, serving as a sharp reminder of the city’s vulnerability to fire. However, fire occurrences continue unabated, revealing major gaps in safety and emergency readiness.
Alarmingly, 225 fire incidents were reported in Karachi in January alone, causing destruction, injuries, and deaths, according to The News on Saturday.
The tendency has persisted into February, with over 20 fire incidents reported in only the first five days, indicating that the city is constantly at risk.
Authorities warn that unless tougher safety measures are adopted and public awareness is improved, Karachi residents will continue to face everyday threats from both major and minor fire events – a risk that must not be overlooked.
On Thursday alone, fires were recorded in six separate spots throughout the city. While no humans were injured in these occurrences, two animals — a cow and a buffalo — had burn injuries.
