Pakistan Wins Global Praise for Helping Secure Iran-US Ceasefire

ISLAMABAD — The civil and military leadership of Pakistan has been praised by international leaders and ambassadors for their successful diplomatic participation in a crucial ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran.

Following talks with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, US President Donald J. Trump established a two-week ceasefire with Iran.

After being asked “to hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran,” President Trump announced in a statement that he agreed to delay impending military action. He further linked the suspension to certain requirements pertaining to Tehran.

Iran announced on Wednesday that it would guarantee safe passage through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz for two weeks. During that time, it will have negotiations with the United States to end the dispute, starting in Islamabad on Friday. Pakistan is appreciated throughout the world.

In a post on X, Jane Marriot, the UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, stated: “Thank you Pakistan for the quiet, effective, diplomatic role you have played in bringing about this vital ceasefire”.

“Pakistan’s willingness to speak to all sides, without fear or favour, reflects the highest traditions of Muslim solidarity and international responsibility. Malaysia stands ready to support and complement all efforts in this regard,” he said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also thanked Pakistan and others for their role in de-escalation.

“We thank and support the work of negotiations, including Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, in advancing de-escalation efforts”.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the president of Kazakhstan, also applauded the conclusion of a complete ceasefire and truce in the Middle East, which was mediated by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

“This agreement became possible due to the goodwill and wisdom of the President of the United States, Donald Trump (@realDonaldTrump ), and the senior leadership of #Iran, as well as all countries involved in the military conflict.”
