Shehbaz Sharif Welcomes Iran-US Ceasefire Talks in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD — Iran and the United States reached a ceasefire deal on Tuesday, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed both sides to Islamabad for additional discussions on April 10.
According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the cease-fire between Iran and the United States, as well as their allies, covers “Lebanon and elsewhere” and takes effect right away.
“I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture, extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both countries, and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes,” Sharif posted on social media.
He emphasized that throughout this crucial mediation, both sides have shown “remarkable wisdom and understanding” and have continued to be constructively involved in advancing the cause of peace and stability.
“We earnestly hope that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days,” Sharif stated.
