Islamabad Roads Closure Today Ahead of US-Iran Talks

Islamabad police have implemented a special traffic plan ahead of the arrival and departure of foreign delegations for critical US-Iran talks on April 9 and 10, 2026.

“Citizens are requested to follow the traffic plan to avoid inconvenience and extend full cooperation to police officers on duty,” the police stated on X. The advisory details road closures and alternative routes across Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to security arrangements.

Key updates include:

• GT Road will experience intermittent closures. Travelers from Rawalpindi to Islamabad are advised to use Chakri Road, Chak Beli Road, or Motorway links.
• Commuters from Lahore to Peshawar via GT Road should switch to alternate routes.
• Traffic from Faizabad to Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue. Similarly, sectors F-6, G-6, and G-5 will use 9th Avenue to reach Rawalpindi.
• Srinagar Highway will be partially restricted, and Faisal Avenue traffic towards Zero Point will face redirection.
• Murree Road traffic heading towards Islamabad should follow Service Road and 9th Avenue.

Authorities warned that traffic entering Islamabad from all directions may face temporary closures during April 9–10. Citizens are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and monitor updates via Islamabad Traffic Police social media channels and FM 92.4 radio broadcasts.
