India Speaks on Middle East Crisis After Growing Criticism
India’s Modi government has opened up about the Middle East crisis for the first time after growing criticism in the country.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has expressed concern over the deaths in Lebanon without naming Israel.
Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the large-scale killings in Lebanon are disturbing and that respect for international law, national security, and sovereignty is essential.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that India considers the current situation “extremely worrying,” especially because India contributes troops to the UN peacekeeping force and has a deep interest in the peace and security of Lebanon.
It should be noted that this statement comes at a time when global concern is growing over the rising tensions in Lebanon.
In recent days, despite the implementation of a ceasefire by Iran, the Israeli military has carried out its most intense airstrikes on Lebanon to date.
According to the Lebanese Civil Defense, the death toll from Israeli attacks across the country has risen to 254, while 1,165 people were injured.
