NCCIA Launches Investigation into Cambridge Exam Paper Leak Allegations in Pakistan

14 May, 2026 15:39

The federal government has directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to investigate the alleged leak of Cambridge examination papers following rising concerns among students and parents throughout Pakistan.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha at the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Thursday.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education, Cambridge International Education (CIE), the British Council, the Foreign Office, and the NCCIA participated in the meeting to discuss the situation and possible security measures.

The development follows confirmation by Cambridge International Education that an AS-Level Mathematics examination paper conducted earlier this week had been leaked. Another Mathematics exam scheduled for Friday was also postponed due to security concerns. This is reportedly the second confirmed paper leak during the current examination cycle.

During the meeting, Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub raised concerns regarding the alleged leakage of O-Level Mathematics papers and the growing anxiety among students and families.

Representatives from the British Deputy High Commission stated that the incident appeared to involve theft rather than a direct cyber system breach.

Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha instructed the NCCIA to carry out a detailed investigation in coordination with Cambridge authorities and ensure transparency by sharing the findings without delay.

Cambridge officials also assured authorities that stronger examination security measures would be implemented to prevent future incidents and address vulnerabilities in the system.
