A new interchange is likely to be built on the Lahore–Islamabad M-2 Motorway, which will provide better travel facilities for commuters on one of the busiest routes in the country.

The proposed Farooqabad Interchange will be constructed in Sheikhupura district, between the Hiran Minar and Khanqah Dogran interchanges. It is expected to improve road connectivity and boost economic activity in the region.

The project will connect the motorway with the Lahore–Sargodha Road, making travel easier for nearby areas such as Farooqabad, Safdarabad, and Chuhar Kana.

Officials say the new interchange will help support agricultural, industrial, commercial, and religious travel by reducing travel time and improving transport facilities.

It will also improve access to important sites like Gurdwara Sacha Sauda and make emergency travel to major hospitals in Lahore faster and more convenient.

According to details, the project has already been included in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and its feasibility study and design work have been completed.

If approved and completed, the new interchange is expected to become an important development for the Sheikhupura region, improving both mobility and local economic opportunities.
