Major Breakthrough to Increase Ministry of Climate Capability

Islamabad: Federal government’s priorities for tackling climate change declared insufficient, the new budget does not include any new plan to tackle climate change for now which might increase climate extremes in Pakistan.

Funds allocated for only 3 ongoing projects of the Climate Change Division, Rs 2.78 billion allocated for tackling climate change in the next fiscal year, The total cost of the projects of the Climate Change Division is Rs 123.51 billion, Only Rs 35 billion expected to be spent on projects by June 30, 2026, A slight increase in funding for the climate sector compared to last year, Proposal to allocate Rs 2.497 billion for the “Green Pakistan Program”, The total cost of the Green Pakistan Program is Rs 122.14 billion, Rs 290 million allocated for increasing the capacity of the Ministry of Climate Change.

The government intends to work hand in hand to bring Climate Action according to the Global Climate Action in coming years.
