Police Say Banned Action Committee Declared Illegal Over Anti-State Activities

A police spokesperson said that 38 demands of the banned Public Action Committee were approved under the October 4 agreement, while the government continued to address public concerns within the framework of the law. The spokesperson said the group later moved beyond basic rights issues and became involved in activities described as against the state.
During a news conference, the police spokesperson stated that the Public Action Committee was declared a banned organization in accordance with legal procedures due to its alleged anti-state activities. The spokesperson added that the government has a constitutional and moral responsibility to ensure public access and remove obstacles affecting citizens.
The spokesperson further said authorities had consistently shown restraint toward the banned Joint Action Committee and supported its demands when they focused on public rights. However, officials said action was taken after they believed the group’s activities moved beyond legitimate public concerns.
