RAWALAKOT: A Rangers soldier was martyred after armed men allegedly linked to the banned Joint Action Committee attacked security forces near the Matiyal Meera Bus Terminal in Rawalakot.

According to reports, armed groups opened fire in a residential area on the morning of July 14. Police moved to the area to restore law and order, while Rangers personnel arrived to support the operation.

The armed men then allegedly opened direct fire with automatic weapons on the police and Rangers. During the exchange of fire, one Rangers soldier was killed.

Security remained on high alert following the incident.

Experts described the alleged use of modern weapons and explosive materials by the banned group as a planned act of terrorism.

They said the sacrifices of security personnel highlight the importance of maintaining the writ of the state and called for strict legal action against those involved in attacks on state institutions.
