Finance Minister, Pakistan’s Envoy to China Discuss Expanding Bilateral Investment

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation, attract investment, and expand bilateral trade between the two countries. According to an official statement, the meeting focused on promoting quality investment, boosting exports, and increasing private-sector participation in Pakistan’s economy.
Aurangzeb said attracting high-quality investment remains one of the government’s top priorities and stressed the need to transform investment commitments into practical projects as quickly as possible. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve investor confidence through policy reforms and institutional support aimed at facilitating business activity.
During the meeting, Ambassador Hashmi said memorandums of understanding worth more than $20 billion had been signed with Chinese institutions, with implementation already underway. He added that nine new agreements had been concluded in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors and that discussions were continuing with more than 150 Chinese companies interested in investing in manufacturing, logistics, textiles, export industries, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Both sides also agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve Pakistani products’ access to the Chinese market.
