PM Shehbaz Sharif Welcomes Chinese Investment in Modern Agricultural Storage

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met a delegation led by the CEO of a Chinese company to discuss cooperation in Pakistan’s agricultural sector and opportunities for expanding bilateral investment. Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Jam Kamal, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and senior government officials also attended the meeting.

The prime minister said the Pakistan-China economic partnership and longstanding friendship continue to grow stronger with time, adding that enhanced business-to-business collaboration would further deepen ties between the two countries. He welcomed the proposed project to transform Pakistan’s grain storage facilities into state-of-the-art centers, saying it would promote modern technology, improve agricultural infrastructure, and boost commercial activity in the sector.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that workforce skills development and professional training should be integral parts of the project. The Chinese company’s CEO said the firm was interested in providing advanced storage facilities, technology transfer, and training. Officials also informed the meeting that a memorandum of understanding had already been signed between the Chinese company Famsun and the Green Pakistan Initiative to advance cooperation in the sector.
