AJK Election 2026: Second Phase Voting Begins in Nine Constituencies

Voting for the second part of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections started on Sunday morning in nine electorates of Muzaffarabad division and all 12 refugee constituencies.

The polling process commenced at 8:00am and is scheduled to continue until 5:00pm. Authorities say all necessary arrangements are in place for a safe and smooth election process.

Across the Muzaffarabad region, polling is being conducted in five constituencies of Muzaffarabad district, Two constituencies in Jhelum Valley and another two in Neelum are also going to the polls, with 207 candidates contesting across the division.

Alongside this, Elections are also being held in all 12 refugee constituencies, where six seats are allocated to refugees from the Kashmir Valley and six representing refugees from the Jammu region.

The current phase follows the opening round of elections in Mirpur division in which the PML-N emerged victorious with nine seats, while the PPP finished with four seats.

The PPP sued the first phase of voting was spoiled by controls, but the PML-N precluded the assertions. As per to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari state, that some voting places logged strangely high voter numbers, and guaranteed to competition the outcomes using all presented legal and constitutional options.

The third and final phase of the AJK elections is scheduled to take place in Poonch Division on August 10. Ahead of polling, AJK Election Commission officials urged voters to exercise their democratic right and cast their votes to elect representatives of their choice.
