Afghanistan-India Nexus Exposed as Indian-Supplied Drones Fail Against Pakistan’s Advanced Defence System

The growing nexus between the Afghan Taliban regime and India has suffered another major setback as Indian-supplied drones reportedly failed to achieve their objectives against Pakistan, exposing the limited capabilities of the technology provided to the Taliban regime.

An investigative report has highlighted the poor technical capabilities of drones allegedly supplied by India to the Afghan Taliban regime for use against Pakistan, while also detailing the broader security environment emerging from Afghanistan.

According to the report, Afghanistan has become a hub for terrorist organizations under the Taliban regime, with more than 20 terrorist groups operating from the country.

The report states that the environment provided to terrorist organizations is enabling the advancement of what it describes as India’s state-sponsored terrorism agenda against Pakistan.

It further states that terrorist organizations including the TTP and BLA are receiving support from the Afghan Taliban regime as well as financial assistance from India.

Indian-Supplied Drones Fail Against Pakistan

According to the investigative report, the Afghan Taliban regime claimed to have carried out a drone attack against Pakistan in June 2026, but the unmanned aerial system was intercepted and destroyed by Pakistan’s air defence system before reaching its intended objective.

The report states that the UAV used in the attack was not manufactured in Afghanistan but was supplied by India.

Between June and July 2026, nine drone attacks were reportedly carried out in areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

According to the report, recovered drones operated by the Afghan Taliban regime have ranges between 50 and 270 kilometres and can carry payloads of up to approximately 5 kilograms.

However, the investigation describes the Indian-supplied systems as technologically limited, with restricted operational capabilities that make them ineffective against Pakistan’s integrated air-defence network.

Pakistan’s Defence System Counters the Threat

The report highlights that Pakistan possesses sophisticated capabilities to counter such unmanned aerial systems through both soft-kill and hard-kill methods, allowing hostile drones to be disrupted or physically neutralized.

Defence experts say the limited capabilities of the drones supplied to the Taliban regime by India cannot effectively penetrate Pakistan’s integrated defence architecture.

According to the experts, Pakistan’s advanced technology, effective surveillance, and coordinated defence strategy have significantly undermined attempts by the Afghan Taliban regime and India to use drone technology against Pakistani territory.

The developments have also raised questions over India’s strategy of providing military technology to actors operating from Afghanistan, particularly as Pakistan continues to strengthen its counter-drone and air-defence capabilities.

India’s Technology Faces Another Setback

Defence experts further maintain that India’s military technology has previously demonstrated serious limitations during Markah-e-Haq, and the latest failure of Indian-supplied drone systems has once again highlighted the gap between India’s military ambitions and the capabilities of Pakistan’s integrated defence system.

The repeated neutralization of hostile drones demonstrates Pakistan’s growing ability to detect, disrupt, and eliminate emerging aerial threats while protecting its territory from foreign-sponsored terrorism.

The latest developments have therefore dealt another setback to the India–Afghan Taliban nexus and its attempts to create new security challenges for Pakistan.
