Pakistan Highlights Creative-Economy Cooperation Potential With Russia’s Far East at EEF 2026

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia — September 3, 2026: Pakistan has highlighted significant opportunities for expanding cooperation with Russia’s Far East in the creative economy and related sectors during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) 2026.

Speaking at the panel “Creative Far East: From Local Brands to Exporting to the Asia-Pacific,” Ambassador of Pakistan to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi outlined Pakistan’s perspective on strengthening cultural and commercial ties with Russia’s Far Eastern regions.

Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted Pakistan’s growing cultural engagement with Russia, including the participation and recognition of Pakistani filmmakers, designers and artists at prominent Russian cultural platforms.

He noted that these cultural exchanges are developing alongside an established foundation of bilateral cooperation in trade, connectivity and media.

Existing areas of cooperation include the Pakistan-Russia Road Transport Agreement, media collaboration between the Associated Press of Pakistan and Russian media organisations, and Pakistan’s connectivity with international markets through the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.

The ambassador identified film and animation, fashion and crafts, and gems and jewellery as areas with significant potential for deeper cooperation.

He pointed to opportunities for exchanges between creative communities, participation in cultural and fashion events, collaboration in audiovisual content and stronger links between gemstone and craft producers.

Ambassador Tirmizi also emphasised the importance of improved connectivity, saying stronger transport and logistics links could create additional opportunities for commercial and cultural exchanges between Russia’s Far East, Pakistan and markets across South Asia and the wider Asian region.

His participation was part of a broader programme of high-level engagements at EEF 2026. Russian President Vladimir Putin also addressed the forum’s plenary session in Vladivostok on September 3, highlighting the Russian Far East as an important area for economic and infrastructure development and international cooperation.

The discussions at EEF 2026 provided an opportunity to explore how culture, creativity and people-to-people exchanges can contribute to stronger relations between Pakistan and Russia, while opening new avenues for cooperation with the Russian Far East.
