Leadership Pays Tribute to Security Forces on Defence and Martyrs’ Day

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has praised the security forces for their successful operations against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing the killing of 21 militants as a major achievement. He commended the forces for demonstrating professional expertise and thwarting the nefarious plans of terrorists. Naqvi said security forces remain determined to completely eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism, adding that the brave personnel defending the country are a source of pride for the nation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Defence and Martyrs’ Day, described September 6 as a shining chapter in Pakistan’s national history. He said the armed forces decisively defeated the enemy on every front during the 1965 war, while the Pakistani nation demonstrated unity, determination and steadfastness. The prime minister paid tribute to the Martyrs, Veterans and their families, saying the nation remains proud of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy.
Shehbaz Sharif said the spirit demonstrated on September 6 remains alive and was once again reflected in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, which he described as another golden chapter in the country’s military history. He said the challenges facing Pakistan today require greater national unity and solidarity, while identifying the elimination of ignorance, poverty and underdevelopment as major national priorities. He stressed the need to build Pakistan according to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The prime minister said economic development, political stability and public welfare remain key government priorities. He added that Pakistan would continue playing an active role in promoting regional and global peace, with cooperation and dialogue being prioritized to address regional challenges. Shehbaz Sharif also said lasting peace in South Asia would remain elusive without a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing that a strong defence is the foundation of sustainable peace and development.
President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the martyrs, veterans and their families, describing September 6 as a symbol of national unity and collective strength. He said no power in the world can defeat the resolve of a united nation and recalled how the Pakistani nation and armed forces thwarted the enemy’s ambitions in 1965. Zardari said the sacrifices of the martyrs would continue to inspire future generations, while the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos once again demonstrated the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces. He reaffirmed that the entire nation stands alongside its courageous defenders.
