Pakistan Condemns Demolition of Centuries-Old Mosque in India’s Saharanpur

06 September, 2026 20:45

Pakistan has strongly condemned the demolition of a centuries-old mosque in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, calling the destruction of the historic place of worship highly deplorable. Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said the demolition of the ancient mosque was a matter of serious concern and strongly denounced the act.

The spokesperson described the demolition of the historic religious site as evidence of what Pakistan considers a broader Hindutva campaign aimed at erasing Islamic heritage in India. He cited the 1992 demolition of the Babri Mosque as a stark symbol of what he described as the consequences of an exclusionary and discriminatory ideology targeting Muslim heritage and places of worship.

Pakistan urged the international community to take notice of what it described as persecution of Indian Muslims and the destruction of their places of worship. The Foreign Office spokesperson called for India to be held accountable for actions against minorities, particularly Muslims, and stressed the need to protect religious freedom and historical heritage.
