Security Forces Kill 21 Militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: ISPR

Pakistan’s military says security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5, killing 21 militants affiliated with the Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an operation was also conducted in North Waziristan on the night of August 31 and September 1, during which 10 more militants hiding in the area were killed, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in that operation to 25.

The ISPR said security forces detected the movement of a group of militants near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and effectively thwarted an attempted infiltration. Seven more militants were killed during the operation. In separate joint operations in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan, four additional militants were eliminated. The military said the operations were conducted after intelligence indicated militant activity and movements in the areas.

The ISPR said the incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have once again reinforced Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban government has failed to prevent cross-border terrorism. It reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain fully committed to defending the country’s borders and protecting its people, while operations against militants and their facilitators will continue.
