Surjani Town Family Murder: Police Detain Main Suspect Humayun

KARACHI: Police have detained the main suspect, Humayun, in connection with the killing of a woman and her three children in Karachi’s Surjani Town.

Investigators are questioning Humayun about the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the motive behind the killings.

According to investigative sources, Humayun used to visit the victim’s house to meet her and the children were also aware of his visits.

Sources said the suspect was allegedly present inside the house on the day of the incident.

According to police sources, Humayun got into an argument with the woman over an issue, after which the dispute escalated into a physical confrontation.

The suspect allegedly told investigators that the woman attempted to strangle him, following which he became enraged.

Investigative sources said Humayun picked up a rod kept nearby and struck the woman on the head.

The woman reportedly fell to the ground after being hit.

According to the suspect’s account, the children, who had allegedly been given a drink containing a sedative, woke up during the incident.

Sources said the children knew Humayun, and the suspect allegedly feared that they could identify him.

Investigators allege that Humayun subsequently killed the children with a sharp-edged weapon in an attempt to eliminate witnesses and destroy evidence.

Police have also recovered the alleged murder weapon from the suspect’s possession, according to investigative sources.

Further forensic examination will be conducted to establish the weapon’s role in the killings.

Police sources said Humayun was the brother-in-law of the deceased woman.

They said he had previously lived for some time in accommodation above the victim’s house before subsequently moving elsewhere.

Police are continuing to question Humayun regarding his relationship with the victim, his presence at the house on the day of the incident and the sequence of events that led to the killings.

Investigators expect further details to emerge as questioning and forensic examination continue.
