Ishaq Dar, German Foreign Minister Discuss Trade, Investment and Regional Developments at UNGA

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The two foreign ministers felicitated each other on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany and reaffirmed the importance of sustained high-level engagement to further strengthen their longstanding bilateral relationship.

Focus on Trade and Economic Cooperation

Ishaq Dar and Johann Wadephul discussed ways to expand cooperation in trade, investment, economic relations and business-to-business linkages.

The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, education, skilled workforce and people-to-people contacts.

Both ministers expressed support for maintaining regular high-level engagement to create further opportunities for cooperation between Pakistan and Germany.

Germany Appreciates Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on regional developments, with the German foreign minister appreciating Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.

They also discussed the situation in Palestine.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the importance of sustained international efforts for a ceasefire, humanitarian assistance and a just and lasting solution based on the two-state solution.

The two ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
