A delivery rider from Pakistan has been rewarded for his kind gesture of fixing a traffic signal in Dubai.

Zeeshan Ahmed was rewarded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai for his quick action in performing civic responsibilities.

The delivery rider fixed a dangling traffic signal light on Al Wasl Street without knowing that his act was being recorded on camera.

“I was randomly riding at the spot when I suddenly noticed the broken signal. A panel of the signal was detached and dangling very dangerously,” said Zeeshan.

“I realised this could harm passersby or other drivers, so I quickly parked my bike and strived to fix it. I had no idea that I was filmed and the video would be shared on a social media platform,” he added.

After two days, Zeeshan’s details and contact were obtained by RTA from Talabat, the company where he works.

He was invited to RTA headquarters and honoured with an award.

“Everyone treated me like a brother. They kept repeatedly thanking me for my service. I was so grateful for the recognition,” he said.

Zeeshan has been living in Dubai for over a decade.
