Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that how will the industry work when electricity is so expensive? adding people are going abroad because of these conditions.

While giving a news conference in Lahore today, Hafiz Naeem said that an IPP earned a profit of Rs28 billion and did not generate even one megawatt of electricity. IPPs were paid Rs1800 billion. 9,000 megawatt is the electricity for which the nation pays but never uses. Hafiz Naeem questioned why the contracts of IPPs are not revised?

The JI chief further said that people have installed solar panels after being disappointed with such conditions. Now, there is a talk of ending net metering and imposing more taxes on solar panels. How will the industry work when electricity is so expensive? People are going abroad because of these conditions, the JI ameer lamented.

Hafiz Naeem said that a certain section does not declare their assets and is taking Pakistan’s wealth out of country. The Supreme Court should conduct an inquiry into Dubai Property Leaks and those who did not declare their assets should be disqualified by the Election Commission.

He further said that a minister says that he has done this legally. The said minister should become the minister of Dubai, Hafiz Naeem suggested.
