parties across sindh accused election commission under influence of Peoples Party

The MQM-P, GDA and PML-N all key political parties in Sindh have rejected delimitations in Sindh. The Sindh Election Commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chauhan has been accused of providing undue favour to PPP for fresh delimitations in Sindh in both national and provincial constituencies.

 

Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) accused ECP Sindh to PPP’s B team

 

Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leaders accused Sindh’s election commissioner of favouring the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in delimitations demanded his immediate removal.

GDA General Secretary Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi said that since the caretaker government came into power, they have consistently advocated for transparent elections, but the interim administration seems to be the PPP’s B team.

GDA leadership also urged the chief justice of Pakistan to play his role to ensure free and fair elections.They said fair and transparent general election was not possible without removing its objections on the fresh delimitation.

 

PML – N to go court against delimitations in Sindh

The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Sindh have accused the ECP’s provincial chief of manipulating the delimitation process only to benefit PPP. PML-N Sindh President Bashir Memon said that the party rejects the recent delimitations in Sindh and will go to the court against it.

Bashir Memon said that we express no confidence in the Provincial Election Commissioner, whoever has done this should be punished. Nihal Hashmi has said that pre-poll rigging has started. He alleged that PPP has started a series of pre-poll rigging with the connivance of government employees.

 

MQM-P accused ECP’s commisioner for facilitating PPP

 

An MQM-P delegation led by convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and raised their concerns regarding the final report of delimitation of constituencies.

Dr Siddiqui said that the Sindh election commission did not accept any objections filed by the MQM and other parties and only facilitated the PPP. He alleged that former ministers of the PPP were running the interim government.

Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui told the media that the party had serious reservations on the Sindh election commissioner. Dr Siddiqui said they were hopeful of getting justice from the CEC.

Senior MQM-P leader Dr Farooq Sattar apprised the media of changes that the Sindh election commission had made in the electoral constituencies in Karachi and Hyderabad at the behest of the PPP.

Dr Farooq Sattar alleged adjustments in Qasimabad and Latifabad as well as in Karachi’s Baldia Town, Keamari Town, Korangi, Malir and Pak Colony and some other areas, besides districts Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Nawabshah, where it alleged urban parts were mixed with the rural population.

 

JUI – F demands ECP commissioner removed

 

JUI-F Secretary General Sindh Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro said ECP commissioner ignored all objections and proposals and announced the delimitations to favour the PPP.

Mr Soomro warned if ladlas (favorites) were imposed in Sindh in the general election, not only his party but other political stakeholders too would stage protests sit-ins outside the ECP offices.

Soomro alleged the Sindh Election Commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chohan commissioner of Sindh is showing partiality toward the PPP and must be removed immediately. He said that JUI-F, GDA and PMLN have also raised their objections over the provincial election commissioner of Sindh.
