Passport issuance fee sees significant raise

The fee for the fast-track category of passports has been revised significantly and will be effective from May 08, Wednesday.

For a 36-page Machine Readable (MR) passport with a validity period of five years will now cost Rs12,500. Similarly, the fee for a 72-page passport for five years will now stand at Rs18,500, while the fee for a 100-page passport will be Rs23,000.

Moreover, the fees for 36, 72, and 100-page MR passports with a validity period of 10 years have also been increased. They will now cost Rs25,200, Rs32,000, and Rs16,200, respectively.

These fee revisions come as part of the government’s efforts to streamline passport issuance processes and ensure efficient service delivery to citizens.
