PCB likely to restore Haris Rauf’s central contract

After facing criticism from Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering restoring Haris Rauf’s central contract.

The board had last month terminated the pacer’s contract citing his refusal to join Pakistan’s Test team for the tour of Australia 2023-24.

The move not only impacted his performance but also didn’t go well with the fans.

Rauf — a key member of Pakistan’s bowling attack — reportedly appealed the contract termination with the PCB a few days ago and stated in detail his reasons for excusing himself from the Australia tour.

The report suggest that the PCB is legally reviewing the appeal.

Not only his contract was terminated, but it also barred him from playing in any foreign league till June 30.

“Haris’s central contract has been terminated from December 1, 2023, and no NOC (No objection certificate) to play any foreign league will be granted up to June 30, 2024,” a PCB statement read.

It is worth to mention here that Lahore Qalandars pacer dislocated his shoulder while completing a catch against Karachi Kings during HBL Pakistan Super League’s Lahore-leg.

He is not sidelined for at least four to six weeks from any competitive cricket.
