Petrol pumps, offices built on Sindh Police’s land

Petrol pumps and offices have been established on the land given to Sindh Police in the name of welfare, it emerged.

GTV has obtained details of the Sindh High Court case related to commercial activities on land allotted to the Sindh Police for welfare purpose.

As per details, four petrol pumps, 1,397 shops were built across the province on the land given to Sindh Police. According to IGP’s report submitted to the Sindh High Court, 338 flats, 37 warehouses and 162 offices were also built on the land of Sindh Police. Commercial activities are carried out at a total of 32 places across the province.

It further revealed that a petrol pump and six shops were constructed in Kemari district, 304 shops, 66 flats, 8 warehouses and 62 offices are under construction in Karachi city, 70 shops in central district and a petrol pump is established on police land in Malir.

In Hyderabad, one petrol pump, 247 shops, 271 flats, 29 warehouses and 100 offices have been established on police land. 51 shops in Dadu, four in Badin and 57 in Mirpurkhas have been built on police land.

The report further revealed that 169 shops in Nawabshah, 117 in Sukkur, 121 in Khairpur, 70 in Ghotki,

62 in Larkana, 27 in Kashmore and 92 in Jacobabad were constructed on land given to Sindh Police.

It added that after the orders of the Supreme Court, the shopkeepers were asked to vacate the shops. Later, the shopkeepers approached the Supreme Court against the notices and the apex court referred the matter to the Sindh High Court.
