PM addresses CICA 6th Summit in Astana

ASTANA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the CICA Summit, has appealed to the international community to help the flood affected people in Pakistan, saying that the flood caused great destruction across the country.

While addressing the CICA conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, the prime minister said that Pakistan is responsible for the one percent but we are the only country that suffered a lot. “We understand the situation and problems of the region, the flood is caused by climate change,” he said.

During the address, the prime minister said that climate change is affecting the whole world due to global warming. Millions of people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan, and have to live like refugees. The international community should cooperate to solve the problems.

Highlighting the damage caused by the flood, the prime minister said that three crore people were displaced due to the flood. Thousands of kilometers of highways and bridges, houses, and government buildings were destroyed. 50 percent of Pakistan is under water due to floods.

The prime minister said that if there is peace in the region, the issue of Kashmir has to be resolved. India should stop the atrocities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. There can be no peace in the occupied valley until the oppression stops. India has not given the right of self-determination to Kashmiris for 70 years.

He said that India is denying Kashmiris their basic human rights. India has become a threat to minorities as well. It is important that India comes forward for fruitful negotiations. We want peace with India. We suffered the biggest loss from the Afghanistan war.
