A district and sessions court has acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and other party leaders in two cases related to long march vandalism.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zartaj Gul, Ali Nawaz Awan, Faisal Javed, Qasim Suri, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Shireen Mazari, Saifullah Niazi, Asad Umar are among other PTI leaders who had been acquitted. Besides, the court also acquitted Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad.
The cases against PTI founder and other politicians had been registered with the Kohsar and Karachi Company police stations for violation of Section 144. The sessions court’s decision came during the hearing of acquittal pleas filed by the PTI founder and other politicions.
Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khan acquitted PTI founder, Qureshi, Rashid, Awan, Suri and Nawaz for case registered at Kohsar police station.
Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas had announced the reserved decision on the acquittal plea of Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari, Niazi, Umar, Gul, Awan, Javed and Nawaz against the case filed in the Karachi Company police station.
