Qalandars can still qualify for HBL PSL9 playoffs

28 February, 2024 12:18

Lahore Qalandars are on the verge of becoming the first team to get eliminated from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine after their crushing defeat against Multan Sultans.

The defending champions have lost all six game on the trot and with four games remaining – all away from home – their chances of making though to the playoffs are getting slimmer.

Qalandars next challenge will be up against Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

In order to stay alive in the competition, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s men much win all four of their remaining matches. Doing so they would manage to secure eight points.

However, they will also be relying on results of other games as well.

Teams with at least 10 points have better chance of securing a place in the playoffs.

In 2022, Islamabad United managed to secure a place in playoffs with just eight points.

Qalandars remain determined about their prospects. However, time is of the essence for Qalandars, as they face the imminent threat of elimination if they fail to secure win in their upcoming match against Zalmi.
