Rafah: At least 35 Gazans martyred in Israeli airstrikes

At least 35 Palestinians have been martyred and dozens of others wounded in Israeli air strikes in Rafah, Palestinian health and civil emergency service officials said.

The Israeli military claimed its air force carried out strikes on a Hamas compound with precise ammunition and on the basis of precise intelligence. The military added it took out Hamas’ chief of staff for the West Bank and another senior official involved in deadly attacks on Israelis.

Ashraf Al-Qidra, a spokesman for the Gaza’s health ministry said that 35 people were killed and dozens others wounded in the Israeli strikes.

“The IDF is aware of reports indicating that as a result of the strike and fire that was ignited several civilians in the area were harmed. The incident is under review.”

The target of the strikes was Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood in western Rafah housing thousands of people. Our field hospital in Rafah is receiving an influx of casualties, says The International Committee of the Red Cross. It added that other hospitals also were taking in a large number of victims Israeli attacks.

Sami Abu Zuhri, the senior Hamas official termed the attack in Rafah as a massacre. He held the United States responsible for assisting Israel with weapons and money.

One of the residents who arrived at the Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah said that the air strikes burnt the tents. The tents are melting and the people’s bodies are also melting, he added.
