Raisi, others funeral prayers offered in Tehran

The funeral prayers for Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian and others, who were martyred in a helicopter crash, were offered in Tehran University.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei led the funeral prayers.

Millions of people took part in a massive funeral prayers for Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and his colleagues.

Earlier, the funeral ceremony started yesterday, which was attended by a massive crowd. The mourners marched alongside the coffins draped with the Iranian flags in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz.

According to Iranian media, citizens are saddened by the death of Ibrahim Raisi in various cities including Mashhad and Qom. A five-day mourning day is being observed in Iran for the national tragedy from today.

Iran’s official media attributed the accident to a technical fault in the helicopter and said that the wreckage of the helicopter was found in the forest and mountainous area by Iranian drones.

On the other hand, Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar has assumed the presidential duties, while Iran’s nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Khani has been appointed as acting foreign minister.

The acting president will hold presidential elections in the next 50 days.

It should be noted that yesterday President Ibrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian and other officials were martyred in a helicopter accident.

The news agency Reuters, referring to the Iranian media “Mahar”, said that Ibrahim Raisi and the Iranian foreign minister were martyred in a helicopter accident. Among those martyred along with the Iranian president are Tabriz Imam Juma Ayatollah Al Hashem, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahyan, Governor of East Azerbaijan province Malik Rahmati.
