Removal of barriers from city’s govt buildings ordered

The Supreme Court of Pakistan’s Karachi registry has ordered the removal of barricades outside government and private buildings, including the Rangers headquarters in the port city.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa hearing a petition ordered to end the encroachments outside the governor and chief minister’s houses and asked for a report within three days.

Justice Isa observed that no one is allowed to obstruct the free movement of people as blocking roads and creating obstacles is illegal.

The Chief Justice said that the roads of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) should be cleared and the Rangers should be instructed in this regard.

The Supreme Court also ordered the Additional Attorney General to inform the federal agencies and send a copy of the court order to all concerned and security agencies.
