Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has claimed the rigging in 2024 elections had broken the record of irregularities committed in 2018 elections.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Fazl said that the parliament was losing its importance. This parliament is not public representative. Democracy has lost its case, he told a news conference.

This government cannot win the hearts of masses, the JUI leader said.

Earlier today, Shehbaz Sharif, the joint candidate of the eight-party alliance-led by PML-N for the PM Office, was elected as 33rd prime minister of Pakistan.

According to polling results announced by Speaker Sadiq, PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif secured 201 votes while SIC’s Omar Ayub bagged 92 votes. The Speaker, later, made a request to Shehbaz Sharif to take the seat of Leader of the House.

Shehbaz Sharif has assumed the PM Office for the second time.

Akhtar Mengal of Balochistan National Party-Mengal boycotted the election for the prime minister and did not cast his vote.
