The Sindh High Court has issued bailable arrest warrants of four accused in Murtaza Bhutto murder case here on Monday.

The SHC was hearing pleas against the acquittal of police officers in said case.

Four murder accused Ghulam Mustafa, Gulzar Ahmed, Zafar Ahmed and Asghar Memon did appear in the court, which also rejected the plea of a former police officer Wajid Durrani, who sought an exemption from court appearance.

Earlier, a brother of former city police chief late Shahid Hayat had approached the SHC for pursuing the appeal.

The lawyers told the high court that four police officers nominated as accused in the case have died.  They added that Shahid Hayat, Agha Muhammad Jameel, Masood Sharif and Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani have died.

The bench ordered the SHOs concerned to verify the matter and produce its report in court.

Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto observed that the court intends to tackle the appeal that has been pending since 2010.

The SHC bench summoned further details of the case till April 22.

In 2010, Mir Murtaza Bhutto’s servant Noor Muhammad had filed a plea in the SHC against the acquittal of the accused in the murder case.
