Russia seizes Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bank accounts
UFC great Khabib Nurmagomedov has found himself in trouble after the Russian authorities frozen his bank accounts.
According to MASH, the UFC icon has had his bank accounts seized by the Russian tax authorities after he was rumored to be in over $3 million of debt.
The Eagle hanged up his gloves with a perfect 29-0 MMA record back in October 2020. He defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in his last fight.
It is reported that the former UFC champion has diversified into various business ventures post-retirement including forming his own MMA promotion the Eagle Fighting Championship.
However, his business ventures didn’t turn out to be fruitful as his MMA career, which has led up to this current financial predicament.
Adding to his troubles, police in Russia’s Dagestan region recently raided a fight club linked to his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, as part of an investigation into suspected supporters of a terrorist cell.
Despite these controversies, his rumours return to the octagon seems unlikely. Despite retiring about four years ago, he still trains daily and still maintaining a fighting shape.
Though, there were strong rumours that he would come out of retirement for UFC 300 after the sport’s top officials allegedly reached out.
“I told Ali [his manager], it doesn’t matter who calls you, but never call me about a fight,” he stated to MMA Junkie.
As Khabib navigates these financial and personal challenges, the MMA world watches closely, wondering if the undefeated champion might ever return to the ring.
