Big names to miss Pakistan tour of Australia, Zimbabwe
It looks like the new selection led by Aaqib Javed has decided to make major changes in Pakistan’s white-ball team with noticeable names likely to miss both or at least one series.
According to reports, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is favourite to succeed Babar Azam as white-ball captain.
Interestingly, reports suggest, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed may be dropped from the team.
Fakhar is facing fitness problems for the tour of Australia, while Shadab’s poor form is would draw him out from the squad.
iftikhar Ahmed’s inclusion is also in question.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rested senior cricketers Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah from the Test series against England.
The board is of the view that the three cricketers have not been dropped but rested so that they can make a comeback in the series against Australia.
Spinner Shadab Khan can be replaced by Sufyan Muqeem and Mehran Mumtaz, while Kamran Ghulam, Qasim Akram, Arafat Minhas and Yasir Khan can also make it to the squad for the upcoming limited-overs series.
