Jason Gillespie takes a dig at former Pakistan cricketers
Pakistan cricket team’s red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie has taken a dig at former cricketers for continues criticism on the team.
In an interview to Sky Sports, the former Australian pacer urged them to refrain from undue criticism as it is affecting the team.
Jason Gillespie mentioned that remarks from cricketers on TV show and YouTube have hurt the cricketers, urging them to be careful while sharing their opinion.
“A lot of former players have their own space on social media – YouTube, whatever, and they’re paid to have an opinion,” Jason Gillespie told Sky Sport.
“One thing that I have noticed here is that the players notice everything and if they get some positive feedback from former players they idolised as kids, that goes a long way when they get some positive reinforcement. But it can have the opposite effect too if there’s a lot of criticism by those former players,” he added.
It is worth mentioning here that, Gillespie took the coaching job earlier this year, under Mohsin Naqvi’s new setup.
His first assignment was the Bangladesh series, which Pakistan lost 2-0.
