Pakistan likely playing XI for series decider Aus ODI

10 November, 2024 00:41

Pakistan will take on Australia in the third and final ODI of their series at Perth Stadium on Sunday, 10 November, with the series tied at 1-1.

The outcome of this match will determine the winner, as both teams have claimed one victory each in the previous two games.

Pakistan’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan, may consider making a tactical change to his team, particularly in the bowling department.

Young pacer Naseem Shah, who has been under scrutiny for his inconsistent performances, could be rested in favor of Aamer Jamal. Naseem has managed just two wickets in the series so far while conceding a significant number of runs.

Additionally, he sustained a minor ankle injury during the first ODI, which could further influence Rizwan’s decision to rotate his bowlers.

Naseem’s potential absence would allow Aamer Jamal, a promising fast bowler, to come into the lineup and add fresh energy to Pakistan’s attack.

Rizwan has previously hinted at experimenting with his team’s lineup to assess options for future series, and this final ODI could be an opportunity to test different combinations.

On the batting front, Pakistan is likely to maintain consistency, especially after the stellar 137-run opening partnership between Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique in the second ODI. This partnership played a key role in Pakistan’s dominant nine-wicket win.

Babar Azam’s late six and Haris Rauf’s five-wicket haul in the second ODI further demonstrated the depth and strength of Pakistan’s squad.
