Fakhar Zaman facing chest-related illness: report

Batter Fakhar Zaman has been talk of the town after missing out on South Africa tour, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is keeping it low key on his absence.

A show statement was included regarding Fakhar Zaman’s absence from the press release which featured squads for three T20Is, the same number of ODIs and Two Tests.

The board quoted interim head coach and chief selector Aaqib Javed stating that Fakhar is facing some fitness issues and lacks form with the bat.

However, according to Samaa TV, that is not the case, as the reason behind the southpaw’s snub is due to health related issue.

The TV channel citing its sources close to the player reported that Fakhar Zaman had been battling a chest-related illness, specifically hyperthyroidism, which affected his health.

Due to this condition, Fakhar Zaman faced difficulty in breathing and had a faster heart rate.

Doctors advised him to refrain from running as a precautionary measure. However, thanks to early diagnosis, Fakhar’s condition improved significantly over time.

He has been undergoing treatment for the past one and a half months, resulting in a noticeable weight loss.

Despite the setback, sources confirmed that he is on the road to recovery and will showcase his skills in the upcoming Champions T20 tournament.

The left hander was picked by Islamabad in the tournament.
