Amir backs Pakistan in India Champions Trophy clash
Former pacer Mohammad Amir has backed Pakistan in the upcoming high-octane clash against India in the ICC Champions Trophy stating that the Men in Green will have an upper hand over the arch-rivals.
The mega clash is set to take place on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming match, Amir said that Pakistan’s recent performances in the ODIs have impressed everyone.
He believes Mohammad Rizwan’s recent successes, including back-to-back series wins against Australia and South Africa, will give them the edge over India.
“The way Pakistan have been playing recently—defeating Australia in Australia and beating South Africa—shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Based on their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India,” said Amir.
“India have always been my favorite in big tournaments. But the Indian team is under pressure and facing severe criticism due to their recent defeats,” he added.
A major concern for India heading into the tournament is the fitness of star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently recovering from a back injury.
The last time the two sides met in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan shocked India with a commanding 180-run victory in the 2017 final, a match where Amir played a pivotal role.
