Wasim Akram unveils iconic white jacket for Champions Trophy 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the highly anticipated White Jacket for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, in a special video featuring legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram.

Released on Tuesday across the ICC’s social media platforms, the video highlights the rich history and prestige of the tournament, which will take place from 19 February to 9 March 2025.

In the video, Akram discusses the qualities that define a true “champion” in sports, emphasizing traits like skill, resilience, and excellence. The footage also showcases a skilled tailor meticulously stitching the White Jacket, which features “Champions Trophy 2025 Pakistan” embroidered in golden thread across the front pocket.

The video includes appearances from some of the biggest names in international cricket, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi, Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, Mohammad Rizwan, and Glenn Maxwell. These cricketing superstars demonstrate their passion for the game, adding to the excitement surrounding the tournament.

Reflecting on the significance of the tournament, Akram noted, “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy represents the best of the best, and the unveiling of the White Jacket, which symbolizes greatness, will build the excitement of the event across the global cricket community.”

The ninth edition of the Champions Trophy will feature eight teams and a total of 15 matches, spanning 19 days. Matches will take place across three venues in Pakistan – Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi – as well as Dubai. The tournament will kick off with Pakistan, the defending champions and host nation, facing New Zealand on 19 February at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

The final will take place in Lahore on 9 March, except in the event India qualifies, in which case it will be moved to Dubai. Both semi-finals and the final will have reserve days, and the matches involving India, along with the first semi-final, will be held in Dubai.

With a packed schedule and fierce competition expected, the Champions Trophy 2025 promises to be a thrilling contest between the world’s best cricketing nations.
