Three Pakistan players named in ICC ODI team of the year
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the ODI team of the year featuring three Pakistan players.
Players from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka also secured a similar number of representation in the team. One West Indian batter also made it to the cut.
From Pakistan, Saim Ayub, pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf secured their spots after impressive run in the 50-over format.
Saim scored 515 runs in just 9 innings during the year. Meanwhile, Shaheen and Haris continued to dominate with the new ball. Shaheen bagged 15 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 17.60.
He was well supported by Haris, who claimed 13 scalps in 8 matches.
The team is captained by Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Charith Asalanka, who had a stellar year with both bat and ball, amassing 605 runs and contributing with taking 10 wickets in crunch moments.
