PCB seeks ICC explanation after Indian anthem played in Lahore match

22 February, 2025 21:00

During a match between Australia and England in Lahore, the Indian national anthem was inadvertently played during the live broadcast.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC) seeking an explanation for this error.

Sources report that the ICC had prepared the tournament playlist for the Champions Trophy, and despite India not being a participant in the matches hosted in Pakistan, India’s anthem was included.

This incident occurred moments before the match when the intended anthem for Australia was replaced by India’s tune. PCB officials have demanded that the ICC clarify the matter and ensure that such discrepancies are addressed for the benefit of all stakeholders.

They stressed that controlling and executing every detail of the tournament’s broadcast is the ICC’s responsibility.

The PCB’s request comes amid concerns over the management of broadcast content, with officials insisting that an explanation be provided not only to Pakistan but to all affected parties.
