Fakhar Zaman squashes retirement rumours

Explosive batter Fakhar Zaman on Wednesday put to rest retirement rumours stating that he would resume training after a month.
The 34-year-old was linked to retirement following a back injury during the first match of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy. Due to injury he was ruled out from the remainder of the competition.
Former wicketkeeper-batter Rashid Latif added fuel to the rumours by stating one of the big names of Pakistan cricket would announce retirement soon. Though, he didn’t name any specific individual, but fans started speculating that it would be Fakhar.
However, the southpaw in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that he would be clear to resume cricket after a month, terming retirement reports ‘baseless’.
“There is no truth in the retirement news,” said Fakhar. “I will be fully fit and join the team soon.”
Fakhar has represented Pakistan in three Tests, 86 ODIs and 92 T20Is, since making his debut in 2017. He has scored 5691 runs across formats with the help of 11 centuries and 30 fifties.
