Shoaib Malik played a key role in Sialkotโs crucial victory over Multan in the National T20 Cup at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday night, contributing 43 runs off 33 balls to guide his side to a successful chase of 148.
Malikโs steady innings provided much-needed stability, ensuring Sialkot completed the chase in 19.3 overs.
Multan, who batted first, struggled to build momentum despite Muhammad Shahzadโs 55 off 42 balls and Imam-ul-Haqโs 41 off 33. A late surge from Waseem Akram Jnr (27 off 17) helped them reach a total of 147/8.
Sialkotโs bowlers, led by Hasan Ali with three wickets and Ali Razaโs two, restricted Multan effectively.
While Malikโs performance was lauded for his experience, his interaction with a fan after his innings drew attention. A fan asked Malik to remove his helmet, which led to a brief confrontation.
Malik, visibly offended by the tone, questioned if the fan spoke to his family members in a similar manner, sparking mixed reactions on social media. Some praised Malikโs role in the victory, while others focused on the incident.
