Franchises unhappy over Salman Butt’s inclusion in PSL commentary panel

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, who was convicted of spot-fixing, has been included in the commentary panel of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
According to details, during the Lord’s Test in 2010, Pakistan captain Salman Butt and pacers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir had to go to jail in London for spot-fixing.
Asif has been living in the US for a long time while Salman is the head of the Ghani Glass Institute of Cricket in Lahore.
Sources said that when the PSL franchises came to know that Salman Butt was being included in the commentary panel, they sent a joint letter to the authorities, without naming anyone, that the person involved in any unethical activity, fixer or jailed person should not be included in the commentary panel, it could affect the reputation of the league.
Interestingly, this demand was blown in the air by the PSL officials, Salman Butt’s name was also included in the commentary panel announced the next day, on the complaint of the franchises, it was said that the former captain will do Urdu commentary, no one outside Pakistan will know.
In the last few days, Salman Butt had also interviewed national cricketers for PCB Digital, when he was appointed as his advisor by chief selector Wahab Riaz in late 2023, this decision had to be changed immediately after there was a strong reaction.
It should be noted that Salman is currently associated with the representative of the organization is also part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) governing board.
