Pakistan Squash twinkling youngster Noor Zaman has defeated Egypt’s Kareem El Torkey in Under-23 World Squash Championship in a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory on Thursday.
The final, held at the elite DHA Creek Club in Karachi, was a display of resilience, determination, and skill by the 21-year-old from Peshawar, who overcame a difficult start to win the coveted title.
Zaman’s victory was a credit to his mental fortitude and adaptability. Despite being on the back foot, he showed great resilience to recover, eventually winning the title in front of a raucous home crowd. The final score of 11-6, 9-11, 4-11, 11-9, and 11-7 reflected the heated competition that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.
Speaking after the game, Zaman dedicated his triumph to the people of Pakistan, particularly the ardent supporters who backed him throughout the tournament. “This victory is for Pakistan.” The encouragement I’ve received has been incredible, and it’s motivated me to do my best on the court. “I’m proud to carry on Pakistan’s rich squash legacy,” Zaman stated.
Earlier, Zaman has reached the final of the first-ever WSF World U23 Squash Championships after an impressive win over Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran, beating him 11-6, 11-2, 11-4 at Karachi’s DHA Creek Club.
